Repatriate

"I was born, raised and forged right here in El Salado. This is my land, my home, my roots."

 

Now aged 66, Luis "Lucho" Torres was forced to leave his land twice in order to survive.

 

In an 1997-attack of AUC paramilitary forces seven villagers from El Salado, the Salaeros, died.

 

Torres left his land and cattle behind. Three years later 450 paramilitaries slaughtered 66 more Salaeros.

 

But Luis came back and in 2002 brought with him 800 of the over 7000 exiled Salaeros.

 

But soon he would be forced to flee again.
